A new FW20 collection named ‘Kisses’ and belonging to Troo’s associate brand, Nette Rose, invites women to explore delicate lingerie that is handmade with embroidered lace and gold hardware. Еach piece is composed of soft and delicate textures that maximise comfort for the start of this cosy season.

Nette Rose, the brand of exquisite intimates, and Megan Miller, the equally dazzling woman behind the designs, are the first members of the Troo family. “We fell in love with Megan and her lingerie designs. We contacted her and asked if we could collaborate and within a week, we embarked on this beautiful journey,” explain Nicola and Stephanie Fitzgerald, the founders of Troo. All Nette Rose garments are produced in Cape Town with “love and a lot of laughs”. From the fabric to the thread that holds the intimates together, sustainability is at the forefront of the design and production processes.

Nicola and Stephanie are sisters from Benoni, a small town in South Africa. Although they now reside in Switzerland, they never lost touch of their roots. The name of the brand comes from the word ‘true’, to highlight the importance of always being true to ourselves, our environment and our future. Six years ago, they created a community that became a home for young, inspiring designers who share Troo’s passion for sustainable fashion.

“We wanted to show customers that ethical and sustainable fashion can be beautiful, sexy and fun. We also wanted to integrate our personal beliefs towards living a sustainable life into our business lives.”

The inspiration for our brand came from wanting to lead a sustainable life both personally and professionally. Stephanie and Nicola were both working for large corporate companies and they felt it was wrong to be living sustainably on a personal level yet still supporting companies who did not believe becoming sustainable should be a priority.

At Troo, they prefer to reuse old fabrics rather than throwing them away and feeding the landfills. Each piece of fabric is given the opportunity to transform into something beautiful and valuable. The thread used for their collections is sourced from a South African based company who not only have a zero landfill policy, but utilize solar energy from their sizzling sun and planted one thousand olive trees to help offset their CO2 emissions.

Troo aims to increase its collaborations with sustainable brands and hopes that other fashion labels and its investors begin to take greater responsibility and hold themselves more accountable for the impact that their companies are having on the world.
