Right by the sandy beaches of Portugal, Nathalia runs her very own consulting business. Surfing as much as possible for 10 years, Nathalia tells us, “surfing gives me insights into life and business. When surfing, you have to have a vision and be sensitive to the ocean because you never know what is going to happen.” 

Working with several organisations and brands throughout her early career, she quickly noticed how brands, businesses and entrepreneurs could be doing so much better. Here, feeling inspired, Nathalia began to carve out her own path and launch her solution.

“I want to bridge change in the industry”, she emphasises. “We are all human and we all want to live better, and want others to live better.” Understanding the importance of human connection and how it should form the core of all businesses, across industries. Most of us recognize there is always a need for improvement in our own lives and in the lives of others. . Stressing the importance of diving deep, and being holistically conscious when starting a new business venture. “Business is like a car driving to a destination. You can’t get to a destination in a car, when the car doesn’t work internally. You also cannot drive a car without a destination, because it would end up all over the place.” Making major changes to your business, or when starting a business, should start from the inside out. 

We wanted to find out more about how Natahlia incorporates sustainability and innovation into her business. Asking “what sustainability means to you (personally) and your brand?” She replied “sustainability is such a broad concept, but if I could put it in three words, I would say consciousness, perspective, and understanding.”

When exploring sustainability and how it pertains to business, Nathalia mentions that she wants to be able to offer skills and tools for businesses to continuously practice sustainability throughout the brand life. “In my business, I want to help leaders and business owners to build consciousness to their potential and what they can bring.” This idea of consciousness flows throughout all that Nathalia does for her business. Even when discussing innovation, essentially moving forward, she still mentions taking a look within. 

“A brand’s innovation comes from the inside out. A brand needs to think about who they are, what they are, what they are coming from, and how they are going to do it. If you have a goal, it doesn’t have to be complex. It’s simply the value behind that goal and what you can give to people.”

When considering business, there are defining characteristics that often come to mind. It can be quite alarming how little these common ideas have to do with conscious practices or identities. Nathalia is sharing a beautiful and inspiring message, teaching businesses how to take a step back and be more conscious throughout their practices and approaches. Nathalia approaches each client uniquely by asking them to find their core values and really analyze what they are going to bring to the consumer. She often asks “what are you going to offer to people?” regardless of what the business venture may be. Sometimes asking simple questions can often offer the clearest answers. 

Nathalia is making steps towards a better future for more transparent sustainability in business, adopting more conscious practices. Asking about the future and how she aims to inspire more businesses in the future, we understand Nathalia knows better than anyone that most small businesses, or any business may originate from one crazy idea. “They are not crazy, you can have a big vision for yourself, your business, your brand. By trusting yourself and digging deep, and being authentic. You need to let go of your fears to be authentic. I want to offer that external help to let go and tell you that you can do whatever you set your mind to.”
