BigThinx is a fashion company that uses AI technology to create digitised models for fashion retail. Using just two smartphone pictures, the AI software obtains forty-four precise body measurements delivering anatomically accurate data. With an additional face selfie from clients, the software reconstructs a lifelike, 3D virtual avatar, opening the doors to a customizable shopping experience like never seen before.

BigThinx was born with the initiative of entering the education technology space. However, after the successful prototype for fashion veterans back in 2017, BigThinx recognized an incredible opportunity was at hand: the use of artificial intelligence to skyrocket the fashion industry into a whole new era.

At that point, BigThinx committed themselves to decreasing the astronomical volume of waste created as a consequence of online shopping. E-commerce returns cost the U.S. fashion industry $309 billion in lost sales in 2019 alone, with this figure reaching the trillions on global scale. This equates to 30-50% of all apparel that has been bought online being returned, which then ends up discounted or sent to landfills. Founders, Chandralika and Shivang, realized that by focusing on the reasons why so many shoppers were unhappy with their clothes, they could reduce this waste significantly, as well as providing a big step towards an online shopping revolution.

“We ourselves returned a lot of products we bought online because the sizing information available to us was either incorrect or inaccurate”

Eager to serve customers in innovative and groundbreaking ways, BigThinx technology allows consumers to still make purchases from the comfort of their own homes but without the risk of getting the size or fit of clothes wrong. This software is a fantastic way of enhancing the consumer shopping experience and could very well become an integral part of brands and enterprises. BigThinx’s technology allows companies to serve their users in more efficient ways by optimizing design processes, manufacturing, testing and deployment. As the name already suggests, the company THINKS BIG, and believes that designers, students and brands of every kind can benefit from their innovative technology.

BigThinx’s brand imagery paints a symbolic picture with its exuberant and empowering designs. Free falls and capes certainly give ode to the boundless possibilities of this technology and the impact it could have if adopted on a global scale. The cape is used to depict that each of us is a superhero in our own way and can make a change to the world,” BigThinx explains. Our human nuances are characterised by high complexity and expanding capabilities which is perfectly mirrored by BigThinx and its forward-thinking mission to elicit positive change.

Although only at the beginning of its journey, BigThinx presents a novel solution for fashion businesses and consumers, with the potential for expansion across the entire sustainability sector in the near future. BigThinx says, “Digital mediums open the door to new avenues for business. Used correctly, digitalization can revolutionize entire business operations and boost enterprise growth tremendously.” Coronavirus has brought enormous challenges to industries rooted in archaic systems which has only emphasized the increasing volatility of purely physical stores. In this era of uncertainty, one thing is certain, the AI revolution is coming.
