Staiy is excited to welcome Beflamboyant, a vegan shoe company that boasts an impressive array of certifications and strives for transparency!
The young founders of the company are Jorge and Tatiana, a self proclaimed nature loving couple from Galicia, Spain.
They care about conscious consumption and a
zero waste lifestyle.
They believe
“that [it] is time to move to action and that’s why [they] founded BEFLAMBOYANT”.
The couple is headstrong and full of hope for a transformed fashion industry.
“We are constantly learning, improving and evolving to offer a better product while encouraging people to act now for a better tomorrow by #DoingChange”.
The founders are strongly connected to their hometown.
Abundant with nature, their journey started because of their love for nature and the realisation that every single decision being made affects the environment and our world.

We are proud of our origins and we want to show it to the world by giving visibility to our traditions, our landscapes, our people”.

Not many brands are able to boast such a number of certifications! Transparency is one of the founding pillars of Beflamboyant. Staiy firmly stands behind the idea of transparency and, just as the couple states, we believe that it is a necessity and should be implemented by all, whether it is a vegan shoe brand or not. The couple write that they take on the challenge and will do their very best to achieve transparency in all parts of their supply chain because “only by knowing and evaluating, [will we] be able to improve and offer better consumption alternatives; being responsible with the environment, people and animals”. The brand carried out studies of their supply chains together with BCOME. To their partner of sustainability means “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”. As mentioned, the city of Galicia plays a key role for the couple; they say that it defines them, as well as their products. “From design to production and manufacturing. Everything is done by local expert hands in Galicia and Portugal, where our factory is located”.

Beflamboyant shares that the study with BCOME was exhaustive and “required [them] to study in detail all the production processes, from the initial raw material to the final product [to] obtain the result of the environmental impact”. It is through this work that they are able to be transparent about their processes and work towards sustainability. The factory that the company works with is Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA) certified. SMETA “combines the best practices in the field of corporate social responsibility” and evaluates brands in the following four sections: Labor standards, Environment, Business ethics, and Health and Security. Whereas the factory that manufactures the soles of the Beflamboyant shoes carries a The Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) certificate. “The goal of the RCS is to increase the use of Recycled materials”. All three of their factories “are ISO 14001 certified, ISO 14001 is the international standard that specifies requirements for an effective environmental management system (EMS)”.

Cruelty
Free

As a vegan company, being cruelty free is very important to Beflamboyant. For them, “trade with animals, testing on animals or killing animals is [simply] unacceptable,” but the Earth as a whole is important to the company as well. They believe in our need for sustainability as the so-called “overshoot day” for Spain is approaching fast, landing on the 27th of May, 2021. “We are spending 2 Earths per year,” and something must be done, this cannot go on. Furthermore, the company cares about people. “Fashion industry is one of the industries that contribute to modern slavery, linked to labor exploitation through cheap workforce” they write, and “we don’t want to be part of it”. That is why they believe in Fair Trade and only collaborate with trusted partners. Lastly, as reducing waste is an important component of sustainability, the company works towards zero waste packaging. The company implores you to look around at the plastic in your home, “from clothes to personal hygiene products. From home accessories to kitchen tools”. That is why the brand worked so hard to achieve zero waste packaging. “Every order is a dream come true. Sneakers are packed in a recycled and recyclable cardboard box, free of plastic and labels, and come with a jute tote bag, both ready to be used and live a new life! We also include a plantable thank you card”.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Beflamboyant puts the environment first. “The environment, the animals, the people and YOU are our highest priorities”. They founders believe in the simple principles of reduce, reuse, recycle. People often revert to the last point and solely focus on recycling. Recycling is important, of course, but we must keep in mind that it is not the only point. Although each action contributes to the fight against the climate crisis, we require all three to make a grander impact Some, such as minimalists, even consider reducing to be the most effective of the three. The couple wants to change the way we consume. They believe in the power of changing the industry and our relationship with it. Addressing their consumers, the couple writes the following: “Don’t buy BEFLAMBOYANT if you don’t need a pair of sneakers. Seriously. Don’t do it”.
